November Freebie

This month's freebie is a pre-printed elegant crinoline miniature measuring 2½" x 3". I stitched it in a backstitch, primitive straight stitch and some single strand grub roses on her hat and dress. More girls to come since I enjoyed stitching this one. Comes free with all orders made in November.

Back from the Brisbane Craft and Quilt Show, and it was so great to meet so many BOM and POM ladies. Now I can put a face to the names that I write out each month.

A beautiful well executed example of the” Tre Chic” bag, this clever lady even used shoe fabric.

So want this as my sample.

Sneak peek of the next POM, a cute redwork sewing bag.

Fell in love with Cottage Garden Threads and matching felt rosettes.

I have used these in small projects and they were a dream to work with. No knotting and the colour changes are every 2 inches, softly graded, ideal for small flowers.

We will put these on the shopping cart in the next 2 days along with the first project.

CraftExpo Melbourne 2009

Had a great time in Melbourne, sorry no photos of the stand or the customers, just so busy. It must have been the food proximity or the shortcut to the ladies. Talking of Melbourne food, we sampled inventive muesli breakfasts, such wonderful soup kitchens and tiny alternative Restaurants down narrow side alleys. Yum Yum.

Took the Trams to explore Melbourne on the day off, and found eclectic co ops, ethnic bakeries and great antique shops, sadly most were closed. But peering through windows is fun (reminds me of my antique shop stitchery). This boy doesn’t have a choice where his bed lies.

Finally managed to get to the Famous Victorian Markets and sampled the Deli lines. So many choices, you are lucky people you Victorians.

Found many teapots that I would love to possess.

And of course..finished off the Melbourne trip with a visit to Koko Black for treats and some stitching time.

Roses and Melb Craft Expo

Setting off for the first Melbourne Craft Expo at the wonderful old Exhibition Centre in Carlton Gardens. This is the first of its kind and its ideal for Victorians who need that something extra to finish off Christmas projects or get inspired.

I’m madly stitching the “English Rose “ centrepiece for the new BOM of the same name, it has 10 Rose Stitcheries, 6 Rose quotes and a large centrepiece stitchery of a gorgeous elegant Medieval maiden in her rose garden, stitching of course. Soft pink Japanese Floral fabrics complete this beautiful quilt. I can take names for this BOM and mailing out in November.

Talking of roses, at the Fruit Markets they were selling Roses at $2.50 a bunch, so I bought 4.

Pretty pink roses are such a treat, 2 for me and 1 for each daughter, and I’ve had so much pleasure looking and smelling them all week. Simple pleasures.

October POM is also Rose related. But influenced by the Arts and Crafts Movement of the late 19^th Century. 4 simple but classic small stitcheries framed in chocolate then with Japanes basket fabric, chocolate ribbon drawstrings with 2 wooden basket toggles. A very unique bag that would make a great gift. These Toggles will be available for the first time at the Melb Craft Expo.

Also made House, Spool, Teapot, Sewing Machineand Work Basket toggles, which are great for finishing off drawstring bags.

Black Cats

This my evil little black cat who sleeps in envelope drawers, on light boxes, on new quilts, behind computers and sewing machines, rules the 50kg dog and is the inspiration behind the quick cat quilt for the family room. 12 silhouettes of this naughty girl on dark blue ticking with collars and balls for the red highlights. It was fun to do hand applique again and I have a tough family quilt that I don't mind if black animals claim it occasionally. mmmm

Stitchers Dream Day Out - 2009

Finally blogging about the wonderful Stitchers Dream Day out at Highfields, Toowoomba Qld. Here is Marion from the Quilters Angel telling the girls what they could and could not do. However you can see from the photo they are not listening as the girls are all raiding the goody boxes.From the left Debbie Magee from "Always Stitchin", the cheeky Shelly Anne from "Shelly Anne Designs" and of course the famous but very shy Bronwyn Hays from "Red Brolly Designs". Note the background quilts of my "Simple Cupcakes", "Vintage Flower Girls" and the "Vintage Miniature Sewing Machines".The boxes has been inspected and the girls are actually listening.Marion is showing a very cute morning tea display made by a stitcherer, the gaps on the platter were not from the treats being consumed rather that the tiny teacups flung themselves off the platter as they were paraded around the marqee.Lots of talking and some stitching.These girls are serious, apparently this year classes achieved the most sewing ever. At one table on the Sunday I thought my sample had travelled to a stitching table, but the darling lady had stayed up to 1.30am and completed the project. Sorry no photo but i did give her a prize. The famous four.Some of the projects. Missing Shoe

Sorry about the delay, stitched this a month ago, then lost it under all the other creations. 'Ego' a killer pair of heels stitched in charcoal with gold buckle and gold dangly jewelry. We can't always have pink fabrics, the charcoal in this one compliments the first block.
